Dear Interpreters, do you feel overwhelmed at your job?
Constantly feeling stressed out and emotionally drained after your interpreting sessions. You feel isolated because nobody could understand about your stressful work, and yet you carry this emotional baggage on your daily life. We understand that feeling. That is the feeling of burned out. Let's get connected and talk about it. As we recognize the need for mental wellness, Colorado Language Connection is pleased to host a monthly Colorado Interpreter group support.
This group allows interpreters to share their personal experiences and feelings from their profession as an interpreter, which often can be stressful, emotional, and traumatic. Our goal from this support group meeting is to strengthening our mental health resilience, hope and solidarity among interpreters in Colorado. Come join us! Learn something new or to support others!
The meeting consists of a brief guided meditation and sharing information/resources related to stress and self-care; and the remaining one hour is allocated for a structured conversation in a small group setting.
Interpreter Small Group Support Guidelines To ensure our meeting is a safe place, the following guidelines are followed in all small groups:
Keep your sharing focused on your own thoughts and feelings. Limit your sharing to 3-5 minutes
NO cross talk. Cross talk is when two individuals engage in conversation excluding all others. Each person is free to express his or her or they feelings without interruptions.
We are here to support one another, not "fix" another. We do not solicit any advice or suggestions.
Anonymity and confidentiality are basic requirements. What is shared in the group stays in the group. The only exception is when someone threatens to injure themselves or others.
Our group support meeting will start on time at 630pm. The door to enter the building will remain locked. When you arrive, please ring the bell and the facilitator will open for you. If you are running late, send a quick text to Erha Agi 303-923-6558 (TEXT ONLY) and someone will open the door for you.
